Lawyer with a focus on IT law sought by Lantmäteriet

Lantmäteriet is the authority that maps Sweden. Our tasks also include registering and securing ownership of all properties and managing their boundaries. We are now looking for someone with a strong commitment to society.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The authority is now strengthening its legal support and is seeking a lawyer with a strong interest in digitalization and experience working with IT law. You will assist Lantmäteriet in IT legal matters at both a strategic and operational level in IT legal questions and other relevant legal areas within the unit. The position involves a very varied job in a relevant and prominent organization of great importance to community building and total defense within Sweden. As of January 1, 2026, Lantmäteriet will be a supplier authority according to the regulation (2024:1005) on coordinated and secure state IT operations.

You will contribute with legal considerations and guidance and be part of the authority's development by solving qualified legal challenges where there are not always given answers. The position involves a varied job where you will contribute legal advice, for example, in connection with the development or procurement of IT support, reviewing and following up complex IT contracts, and providing legal support in data protection and IT security. You will also work with legal advice in other legal areas as needed in other parts of the business. The work includes writing opinions, conducting legal investigations, and providing legal advice to the entire organization on central issues, as well as holding internal training sessions.

Work is ongoing to coordinate the authority's legal issues, develop and establish a common operational area for Lantmäteriet's lawyers. The position will be located in a newly formed unit for cross-authority legal matters within the legal operational area. The legal operational area will, from the turn of the year, constitute a common operational area for the authority where all legal support is gathered.

The operational area is responsible for coordinating overarching issues regarding legal certainty, regulatory compliance, and regulatory governance within Lantmäteriet and assists the chief legal officer in the legal governance of the authority. The unit you will be part of will primarily be responsible for cross-authority legal issues such as IT law, digitalization, transparency and confidentiality, and information security. The unit's mission includes providing support to other common operational areas within, for example, labor law, public procurement, and contractual legal issues.

There is an opportunity to work at one of Lantmäteriet's offices, but the job requires regular presence at the headquarters in Gävle.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a law degree or a candidate degree in law from the law program and very good administrative law knowledge. You have at least five years of experience in qualified legal work in the public sector and good experience in legal work related to IT and digitalization issues. You also have a good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English.

It is an advantage if you are a court clerk or have other equivalent court experience. Experience in public procurement, contract law, information security, total defense, data protection, artificial intelligence, and/or EU law is also meritorious. Furthermore, it is advantageous if you have experience in legal advice within projects or other development work as well as work with governing documents.

We place great importance on your personal qualities and see that you have good collaboration skills, as well as the ability to build relationships and be clear in your communication. You need to be confident and able to prioritize, act, and remain calm when working under periods of time pressure. For the tasks, further ability to quickly analyze complex and extensive information is needed. You have a good ability to help others achieve results and move processes forward with a perspective that considers the best interests of the entire organization. You have a good ability to work independently and take responsibility for results with high quality.

We are looking for someone who is competent and driven and has a high level of integrity. The state value base and the role of a civil servant are self-evident for you, and you act accordingly.

The position is classified for security, which means you must be a Swedish citizen and an approved security review is a prerequisite for employment.
